Thinking about the sign of everyone, I planned to find a more general sign or image of people. After trying several classic animate character design, there was lack of come rough and vague direction image of people in my opinion, which a concrete image could bring the misdirected information to the audience and destroy the immersive experience of the sound travel. The image part needs to be fluently integrated into the process of feeling.
'Blank', a technique of traditional Chinese painting, means initiative leaving some blank space on paint to achieve a subtle balance of colour and layout for a space to audience imagination. It brought me back to the time I learning Chinese calligraphy that also has 'blank', the BALANCE has started at the beginning in fact I found. No matter the representation of a person, or the colour usage, need to be controlled at a balance point, which the creator needs to self-constraint on the visual expression.
Therefore, in this case, multiple shapes were considered, which a pure colour block might be a suitable representation of a person at an abstract level. As this is a simple people's story under the current situation, I would like a more common expression but with a strong emotion burst in the visual acoustic mixed experience.
As a result, a simple, flat square was chosen as the symbol of a person.
Moreover, a basic design style was settle, which the 'material design' of google was referred, because of the square, and its match elements. Then, the black&white was set as for the simple expression in visual.
